FINISHING WELL

EXPANDING GOD’S KINGDOM

“ And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season, we shall reap if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9 

This scripture notes two things which can keep us from finishing well – weariness and fainting. This weariness is not tiredness. Rather, it is a loss of heart, evidenced by the sigh that escapes when something difficult must be done. The fainting, well that’s what the sigh or the weariness leads to – giving up. 

Last month we wrote about several saints who finished well. How did they overcome the temptations to weariness and fainting? First, they maintained fellowship with God. Second, they kept their focus on the cause of Christ. They knew what Christ wanted and they did it. These leaders remained steadfast to the end because they never lost sight of the goal. 

What about us? Let’s take a look at some zealous ministry partners currently at work. They are riveted on the harvest and God’s coming glory and they are expanding God’s Kingdom as naturally as a stream fills the low areas into which it flows. 

Several School of Evangelism (SOE) directors have recognized the need for more schools as the demand has increased. In response, they have added schools in India’s Telangana State, the DRC, Côte d’Ivoire, Malawi, and Suriname. In Haiti, a new SOE is set to open in October. Rather than sighing wearily, or saying they’ve “done enough,” these directors are offering more training for more people, that more souls can be brought into the Kingdom.  

In China, our indefatigable ministry partner worked with us to establish Portable Bible Schools (PBSes) across the country. Now with the government clamping down, many Christians have returned to house churches, while others have moved into more open countries like Myanmar, Cambodia, or Thailand to set up homes and businesses as bases for outreach and training. Recently our partner asked whether we have the PBS text in the language of Iraq! How thrilling to see the Chinese Church finishing well by doing its utmost to expand God’s Kingdom.  

We are on the threshold of even more expansion as the Online PBS Teacher Training Seminar is translated into Hindi, Mandarin, and French. We pray this will help many to finish well by expanding God’s Kingdom even in the face of the pandemic and persecution. How? Again, by staying close to the Master and never taking their eyes off the goal – the glory of God.
